Lady in the Rock - Serra da Estrela - Portugal

Situated in Covão Boi, in the Serra da Estrela, is carved in low relief on the rock, the Lady of Good Star, patron saint of shepherds.

The sculpture, with more than 7 meters high, was designed by Antonio Duarte and inaugurated in 1946, from an idea of the local parish priest who attended the demonstration of faith in the place when a cross was deployed at the highest point of the immense Serra da Estrela and he wished to pay homage to the Holy protector of shepherds facing for centuries the elements of rugged region.

Every year on the second Sunday of August, the festivities of Our Lady of Good Star are held, attracting many visitors.

You can visit the monument of Our Lady of Good Star on the road connecting Torre to Manteigas, on your left.
