Mercado emblemático da cidade do Porto. A sua construção caracteriza-se pela sua monumentalidade, própria da arquitectura neoclássica. O Bolhão remonta a 1839, quando a Câmara do Porto decidiu construir uma praça em terrenos adquiridos ao cónego. Neste local existia um extenso lameiro, atravessado por um regato que ali formava uma bolha de água, de que resultou o nome do mercado,'Bolhão'.
