Sorry for uploading late! It was a nightmare to write this description! I accidentally deleted it the first time so I had to write it out all again a second time!

Two nights in the Madison Square Garden followed a show in Landover on the North American Hot Space Tour. These were the final shows Queen would play in New York (minus their one and only appearance on SNL) and in the famous venue which held some of their best shows. Preceding this show was a meet and greet featuring all four members in an electronics store in Manhattan called Crazy Eddie’s which promoted both the tour leg and the Hot Space album. The recording quality for this show is in alright quality, though I have fixed the weird pitch fluctuations. The beginning of the show starts flat, by Now I’m Here it’s close to perfect pitch, then by Fat Bottomed Girls it’s sharp again! All of those have been fixed here.

Hot Space at the time was turning off many fans, and soon the boys would see their diminishing popularity. This caused some exhaustion in the band, and Brian would later state how bad this tour leg was for him mentally (Evidence of this would be shown at a later show in the tour). Sounds fun, huh? For me what makes this tour so boring is the lack of a rotating setlist. The previous leg had such creativity in it due to the band being not too sure on what songs worked where and because of this you had some of the most experimental and strange setlists of Queen’s 80’s tours! This would happen a bit on this tour leg, but to a much smaller scale. (normally taking songs out then not replacing them resulting in shorter sets as we’ll see!) Let’s pray the rumours for 2nd Hoffman Estates are fact….

Apparently a third night at the MSG was planned but for some reason it never came to be. Whether or not it was down to ticket sales is mixed. Both of the nights that were played had sold out easily but maybe the ticket sales weren’t as good as what they had thought? Who knows but it didn’t happen regardless. Toronto would be one of the cities most effected by this as neither night played at the Maple Leaf Gardens would be anywhere near full.

For the moment though the band are still in pretty good spirits seeing as it’s early on in the tour leg. However this doesn’t mean the performance is tight all-round. Brian and Freddie both have problems tonight. Brian is still a bit all over the place, it seems it took him a bit longer to get into the swing of things on this tour, and by the time he was actually tight, he didn’t have much enthusiasm left. Here he makes a couple major errors, and is not entirely on the ball but he still does some nice enough playing in Play The Game, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You. As for Freddie, he is still in relatively good voice overall, but he is definitely weakening rapidly. Despite this he still goes for some high notes (like Bb4s and B4’s) with mixed results!
