Another very cool find - one that Carlos hadn't experienced in his previous trips either - was the tunnel through the mountain that connects Sete Cidades with Mosteiros (and the ocean).
Originally meant to be a drain for the lakes in the crater, it's become a bit of a fun activity for people to walk the 1.2 KM through the mountain. It's kind of creepy, but VERY awesome. We also climbed OVER the mountain coming back. That took much longer, but was worth the view!
