A strong spell of severe weather hit Madeira, Portugal, in recent days. The adverse weather, caused by the passage of Storm Oscar, caused flash floods and landslides in the archipelago.

The strong winds, with gusts that reached maximum speeds of around 100 km/hours, caused countless trees to fall and forced the cancellation of more than 30 flights.

The Regional Civil Protection Service registered 109 incidents, most of which were in Funchal, Santa Cruz, Machico and Câmara de Lobos. Schools and universities were closed and communication networks were impacted.
